It's located in Istanbul and founded in 1773 actually. |
It's one of the oldest technical universities in the world and was established with the |
name of Mühendisane-i Bahre-i Hümayun by Sultan Mustafa III. |
And ITÜ, the first technical university in Turkey, is identified with its engineering |
and architectural programs. |
It has 99 undergraduate, 179 graduate programs and they are mostly tech, science, |
and engineering programs. |
The next one in my list is Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi. |
This university is in the Aegean region. |

administrative sciences, theology, law, architecture, engineering, and so on. |
And it has 10 graduate schools and institutes, 1 conservatory, 3 schools, 6 vocational schools, |
and 15 research and application centers. |
And their programs are very diverse and their academic stuff is also diverse. |
So you should check them out. |
The next one in my list is İstanbul Üniversitesi. |
You know, the history of Istanbul Üniversitesi goes back to 1453. |
The Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II started as a madrasa school, |
as a school of philosophy, medicine, law, and letters. |
And this school has changed in time, of course, and come today. |
And so it has a very rich history. |
You should read about it. |
And its main campus is in Istanbul, in the middle of Beyazıt Square, |
since the palace was located there and the school was kind of extension to that palace. |
And there are 22 faculties, 767 programs currently. |
And two Turkish Nobel Prize winners were graduated from Istanbul Üniversitesi. |
Aziz Sancar, the scientist, Orhan Pamuk, the writer, and also me. |
The other university is Koç University. |
It's relatively new. |
Koç University was founded in 1993 as a non-profit private university in Istanbul. |
And despite the brief history, it became one of the best universities in Turkey. |
The school offers scholarships as well. |
It is located in the hills of Sarıyer, Istanbul. |
And Koç University is 20 minutes from the Black Sea region, |
surrounded by charming villages and natural landscapes. |
And its medicine program is highly preferred among students. |
And another one is Boğaziçi University. |
Boğaziçi University is one of the highly demanded universities in Turkey. |
And it is located in Bosphorus area of Istanbul, which explains the name Boğaziçi. |

Marmara University is one of the oldest educational institutions in Turkey. It started in 1883 under the name of |
Hamidiye Ticaret Mekteb-i lisi. |
It has 16 faculties, 9 schools, 11 institutes and more than 70000 thousand students. |
Education is provided in five different languages, Turkish, English, French, German and Arabic. |
This makes Marmara the only multilingual university in Turkey. |
And İstanbul Üniversitesi Cerrahpaşa is the last one. |
Its name was Cerrahpaşa University but in 2018 this university became part of Istanbul University. It is a medical school, a research center and a hospital. Cerrah Paşa actually means Surgeon Pasha. The name comes from Cerrah Mehmed Pasha who was a grand vizier of the Ottoman Empire from 1598 to 1599. |
The school has nine faculties, six Institutes, one college, five Vocational schools and ten research centers. |
And that's it. |
That's, I think, all I want to say. |
That was a lot of information, I think, and I hope you found it useful. |
And if you want to attend these schools, check out their websites. |
Generally, they do have Turkish and English websites, and you can check out their programs |
