Herkese merhaba, ben Seda. |
Hello everyone, I'm Seda. |
Hi everybody, my name is Seda and welcome to www.turkishclass101.com. |
Today we'll talk about top 10 companies in Turkey. |
This is hard to pick. |
When you check the biggest companies in Turkey, |
you'll find the companies with the biggest budgets. |
But not all of them are well known to the public. |
Most of them are government companies like the energy companies and things like that. |
So I picked well-known companies for you guys. |
I want to say there is no order in this list. |
It's not like from biggest to smallest. |
It's just a scrambled list, okay? |
Are you ready? |
Okay. |
So, first of all, |
Türk Hava Yolları and Turkish Airlines. |
Turkish Airlines started in 1933 with only five planes and fewer than 30 employees |
to today's airline like flying to do most of the countries. |
I think the most countries in the world and celebrating its 87th year. |
And let's check out some numbers about Turkish Airlines, okay? |
I'll come back. |
Okay, the next one is Turkcell. |
Turkcell is a telecommunication and technology services provider since 1994. |
It's one of the biggest companies in Turkey and it has around 16,000 employees. |
And this company is especially very appealing to younger generation. |
I will share its link somewhere over here so you can check. |
And the next one is Arçelik. |
It's one of the oldest well-known appliances brands in Turkey. |
They have over 40,000 employees and they started their business around 1955. |
And it's a company with 12 sub-brands. |
And here are some numbers to see in detail. |
And the next one is Anadolu Efes. |
Anadolu Efes is a local beer company who started businesses in 1969. |
And as they have explained, Anadolu Efes is Europe's fifth and the world's |
10th largest brewer by production volume. |
And the company serves a population of close to 700 million with beer and soft drink brands |
in its portfolio. |
And Anadolu Efes is operating as one of the most important players in its regions and among top |
10 largest Coca-Cola butlers by sales and volumes. |
And the company ships its products to more than 70 countries. |
It's big. |
And the next one is Ülker. |
Ülker started its operations 70 years ago in a small workshop in Eminönü, Istanbul. |
With only six or seven boilers, a small oven, can you believe it? |
And three employees producing around 200 kilograms of biscuits per day. |
And now it's Turkey's largest food company. |
The largest, yeah, it's Turkey's largest food company, right? |
And other than Turkey's market, while the majority of products are exported to the Middle East, |
Russia, and Central Asian Republics, it also exports to Europe, Africa, United States. |
So it's a very big company. |
You can see their products everywhere. |
And I think that's about it. |
Then we talk about Ülker. |
The next company is a bit new comparing what I have introduced so far. |
It is Yemek Sepeti. |
It's an online food delivery company which operates in 70 cities in Turkey. |
And they have over 30,000 members restaurant, 18 million users. |
And it is active in a lot of other countries including |
UAE, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Qatar, Oman, Jordan, Greece, Bulgaria, and Romania, I think. |
And it's been bought by the German-based company Delivery Hero. |
And the next one is again one of the oldest companies in Turkey. |
It is Doğuş Group. |
Doğuş Group is active in six core businesses including automotive, construction, media, |
hospitality, retail, real estate, energy. |
And it sustains its goal with new investments in the areas of technology, sports, and entertainment |
along with its current operations. |
So it's very big. |
And it has over 300 companies and almost 19,000 employees. |
So the other one is again a very big group. |
It's Sabancı Holding. |
Sabancı Group is a very large corporation which main business areas are banking. |
And let me check. |
Banking, financial services, energy, industrials, building materials, and retail. |
There are a lot of retail companies which is part of this group that we use daily life such as |
Carrefoursa, Teknosa, Avivasa, and so on. |
Let's check some numbers, okay? |
The next one is also one of the oldest companies in Turkey which is Eczacıbaşı. |
Eczacıbaşı is founded in 1942 with 44 companies and over 11,000 employees. |
Eczacıbaşı's core sector are building products, healthcare, and additionally the group is active |
in information technology, natural resources, and property development. |
Okay, the last company I will talk about is a bank. |
It is İş Bankası. |
It's Turkey's first truly national bank following the foundation of the republic. |
As well as the financial sector, İş Bankası has participated in nearly 300 companies today. |
It currently has direct participation in 26 companies operating finance plus |
telecommunication as well as the industrial and service main groups. |
İş Bankası has direct or indirect control over 106 companies so it is large. |
Okay guys, I think this is enough information. |
You got a rough idea about some companies in Turkey. |
