Hey guys, I'm Seda. Merhaba, ben Seda. Welcome to TurkishClass101.com. Today we'll talk about YouTube related videos. As you all know, YouTube is now part of our lives. If you like it or not, there are some good content on it and some not really good content on it. And if you are learning a new language, maybe you can use YouTube to expand your knowledge, to listen more Turkish, or you can start creating your own YouTube channel to show your, I don't know, Turkish journey while learning. And if you tend to do that or if you want to understand Turkish YouTube videos a little bit better, I hope this video will help you to do that because we'll just talk about some words related to YouTube. |
Okay, so let me check our first... We have two words. “Yorum yapmak” “comment” “Yorum yapmak” |
And the next one is 'video'. Yeah, that's 'video'. We say the same in Turkish, so it's easy. 'Video'. So our sample sentence is, “Videomu beğendiyseniz, lütfen yorum yapın.” 'If you like my video, please comment.'“Videomu beğendiyseniz, lütfen yorum yapın.” |
Let’s see the other words. “Canlı yayın” 'Live broadcast'. |
'Yarın sabah dokuzda canlı yayın yapacağım.. 'I will be doing a live broadcast at 9 am tomorrow.' 'In the morning.' I don’t know if you noticed. We don't... When we are speaking, we don't say it that way “yapacağım”. We say “yapıcam” for the future times. I'm sorry, for the future tense. Generally, we cut it short like that. But while speaking, we don't write it like that, but we say it like that. So try to say it like that. “Canlı yayın yapıcam” |
Yeah, let's see the other one. “Akım” Sometimes we use 'trend'. 'Trend' is also in Turkish now. If you say trend, most of the people will understand what that will be. But the Turkish word for that is 'akım'. And our sentence is this. Let me check. |
Koronavirüs sırasında son akım insanların evde yemek yapmaları videoları oldu. |
The last trend during coronavirus is that people are making bread at home from scratch.' Actually, this is true for Turkey. A lot of people are baking bread because there are lockdowns and nobody can go outside and get some freshly baked bread. And I think people are bored at home a little bit, so everybody is making bread now. That's our trend. |
Let's see the next one. I couldn't say it. “Abone olmak” Or just “abone” “abone is subscriber. Abone olmak “to subscribe” the literal translation is for that to be a subscriber. But to subscribe, it's also a good translation. So we can say, “Hala abone değilseniz, kanalıma abone olmayı unutmayın.” “'If you are not a subscriber yet, don’t forget to subscribe to my channel. “Hala abone değilseniz, kanalıma abone olmayı unutmayın.” |
Okay, okay. The next word, I already said it. 'Kanal'. 'Channel'. 'Channel'. 'Kanal'.Kanalıma abone olun. 'Subscribe to my channel.' |
This is also nice. 'Video düzenleme'. 'Video editing'. 'Video düzenleme'. “Videonu düzenlemeden önce düzenlemeyi unutma. 'Don't forget to edit your videos before uploading it.' |
So, this is also nice. “Beğenmek” or “Beğeni”. I know this is hard with the soft 'g' in the middle. “Beğenmek” To like or 'be'. “beğeni” It's hard to say it's slow. It sounds as if I'm saying with 'y'. I think. |
“Çok beğeni almış olman, iyi bir Youtuber olduğun anlamına gelmez.” 'Having too many likes doesn't mean that you're a good YouTuber.' |
'YouTuber'. Okay, these are our words. As you heard what I said, 'YouTuber', we also use that word in Turkish. 'YouTuber'. A lot of things about YouTube are new, so we don't have words for it. So we just sometimes borrow it from English. For example, 'YouTuber'. For example, 'influencer'. We use 'influencer'. And 'troll'. These are the same meaning. If we use 'troll' as a verb, we use it 'trollemek'. So we add 'mek' at the end of it and we make it Turkish. 'Troll', 'influencer', 'YouTuber', these are the same. |
So this is it. I hope you like it. Leave some comments if you are thinking of opening a YouTube channel about your Turkish journey, and I will see you next time. Bye. |
